Foodex Japan, the largest exhibition in Asia dedicated to food and drink, attracted attendees from Japan and around the world. The 44th International Food and Beverage Exhibition took place in 2019 and witnessed the participation of thousands of buyers and suppliers from food service, distribution, and trading companies.
The following table provides a summary of the exhibition:
Exhibition | FOODEX JAPAN 2019 |
Venue | Makuhari Messe – Chiba, Japan |
Dates | March 5 – March 8, 2019 |
Total exhibitors | 3,316 exhibitors occupying 4,554 booths |
Total visitors | 80,426 |
Compared to the previous year, the number of visitors increased from 72,000 to 80,500, highlighting the effectiveness and impact of this international food conference on attendees from across the globe.
The Vietnam Pavilion, comprising 20 companies, was in Hall 6. Most Vietnamese companies specialized in frozen food manufacturing, while others focused on noodles, tempura, canned goods, and pepper production. G.O.C Food proudly represented one of the four manufacturers from northern Vietnam and was the sole company producing pickled products.
G.O.C Food showcased our main products at Foodex Japan, including pickles (gherkin, tomato, chili, baby corn, jalapeno, rakkyo, mixed vegetables), fruits (lychee, pineapple), dried products (wood ear, cinnamon, star anise), and bamboo shoots.
Over the four days of the food show, hundreds of visitors, including approximately 30 existing and potential customers, visited the G.O.C booth. Most customers were from Japan and South Korea, with some coming from Europe. The table below demonstrates the customers’ interests:
Total of customers interested | Percentage | |
Pickles | 50 | 28.6% |
Bamboo shoot | 40 | 22.8% |
Rakkyo | 35 | 20.0% |
Dried products | 20 | 11.4% |
Fruits | 15 | 8.6% |
Other | 15 | 8.6% |
The data indicates that pickles garnered the most interest from customers, particularly gherkin, jalapeno, and mixed pickles. Additionally, there was a significant increase in inquiries for rakkyo, indicating strong customer interest in this new item. Bamboo products, including menma and boiled shoots, showed potential for investment despite lower customer interest compared to pickles. The demand for bamboo products was high while the supply capacity remained limited. In terms of dried products, wood ear attracted the most customer interest, with some customers also expressing interest in black pepper and cinnamon.
In conclusion, Foodex Japan 2019 was a successful event that helped promote the G.O.C brand and establish closer relationships with Japanese and international customers. The exhibition resulted in new business partnerships, which the company aims to nurture and develop in the long term.
